So it started hurting mysteriously, especially when I knit. Then later Sunday I got the middle finger on my left hand caught somehow between our Foster Golden Retriever (anyone in Oregon looking to adopt one? stonering@knowledge1.com, or check out the Golden Bond Rescue page… which I'm sure I have a link to somewhere.) and the crate he was traveling in, and pinched a nerve or something. It's still not right – numb on one side and kind of pins & needles when it touches anything. So I didn't knit for a couple days, and then started again slowly.
Today though, after doing lots of browsing of patterns on line over the past few days (lace shawls, interesting socks, lace socks, sweaters, vests, tank tops…) it occurred to me that I could figure out how to do a simple lace sock. So I've started one that is for my toddler – all of 42 stitches around in Brown Sheep's Cotton Fine, with a simple YO, k2tog happening seven times around every other row. I'm wondering how the sizing will be, I haven't tried knitting in any cotton except the fixation so far. But half a dozen rows in to it I like how it looks.

Today's knitting:

I've managed to do three or four pattern rounds on my fixation socks, found a pattern for my OSO's jacquard yarn socks, and done a few rows on my Socka sock. Oh, and I snipped off and re did a ribbing for the hat I made OSO about three years ago. And I didn't kill the toddler, although I do wonder where she put the hat that I just finished for her a day or two ago. It is stashed. Somewhere.

I also figured out that I'll get to do each color twice on my fixation socks before I start the heel, although it may be a little close. I guess I can always have them come up higher by half an inch or so than I'd planned. It's fun working with the fixation yarn, although it makes sock wool seem even thinner and less stretchy than normal.

And I didn't like it. I have to upgrade my blogspot account for that to happen. So yesterday I was ready to do that for the whole year. Their page wouldn't talk to me. Today I think I'll go by the month for a bit while I keep looking at other options. I have a web page with my email account that I might be able to use, but I haven't compared it to what I could get at Blogspot.

While mostly not knitting, I did manage to finish my own face cloth. I think that was it though. Oh, and I subscribed to the Joslyn's Fiber Farms shawl club, which will be challenging knitting, from my intermediate beginning knitter's viewpoint. http://www.joslynsfiberfarm.com/shawl_club.htm

Today I'm hoping to work on my fixation socks, and maybe a dish cloth to send my mother, although I could just send her a skein of the yarn I'm making them in too. I haven't decided yet. And there may be some other project in the batch I'm lugging around with me, but the toddler just dropped a plate and has decided that screaming about it is the solution of the moment, so my concentration is shattered. And one of my cats didn't come in last night. Humm.

Finished!

Last night I finished the hat for my little one. Who immediately put it on and showed it to everyone in the house, including the dog and two available cats. It's out of yellow "magic garden Buttons" yarn, which is mostly wool with some flecks of colored stuff in it. And I knit in the waffle socks pattern, only a little larger because it was a hat. 3X3 ribbing for three rows, then three rows of knit. And my spouse likes it, but he has several things he'd like to have along with it for a hat.

I also got almost two pattern repeats done on my Fixation socks, and a few time around on my Socka sock. And probably a little done on the face cloth, but I don't remember exactly. It was a little hectic when I wasn't knitting yesterday.

I've been reading other folks knitting blogs, and looking at my projects as I work on them. Now I'm wanting to take pictures with my imaginary digital camera to post to my imaginary knitting blog. So I decided to do something about it and at least try my hand at starting my own. I don’t have pictures to put here yet. I don’t know how to put pictures here yet. But I can at least list what I’m working on and then add to it. So currently in progress I’ve got: one Socka sock (#2 for the pair) only and inch or two along though, two Fixation socks, a hat for my daughter, and a face/dish cloth for myself. In knitting limbo I’ve got two Zirton Libero multi colored socks on circular needles, which I decided I didn’t like at all working with. So those are awaiting free sets of dpns. Also a “darth” scarf for my father which I’m going to try starting over with different yarn. And the beginnings of a hat for a friend’s child, that I may yet make, but in the interim I made him a different more interesting hat. And a toe up sock that’s looking too big for me and may get finished as a gift for my mother instead. Now off to see if I can make this post for real!
